SB-9 (Lot Splits) Los Angeles, CA
I'm considering an Urban Lot Split under SB 9. Will I need to arrange for separate utilities (water, power, gas) for the new lot? How does the utility connection process work?

Yes, if you do an Urban Lot Split, each new lot will need separate water and power services for the dwelling units. LADWP doesn't allow multiple units on a single-family lot to have separate services, but post-split lots are treated as independent. Contact LADWP early—(213) 367-6937 for electrical, (213) 367-2130 for water—to request new services. You may need to cover costs for equipment upgrades depending on local infrastructure. Also, if your project is within 10 feet of power lines, coordinate with LADWP's Power Line Clearance program.
